Meet John Jantsch

Did you know?

  • John started the Duct Tape Marketing Podcast in 2005 (you know, before it was cool)
  • The Ultimate Marketing Engine is his 7th book to go along with 4376 blog posts
  • His books have been translated into 12 languages most of which have no word for the term Duct Tape

Just the facts:

John Jantsch is a marketing consultant, speaker, and author of Duct Tape Marketing, The Referral Engine, The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur, and The Ultimate Marketing Engine. He is also the founder of the Duct Tape Marketing Consultant Network, which trains and licenses independent consultants and agencies to use the Duct Tape Methodology.

Full story:

I started my own marketing consulting practice in the 1990’s

I say I started my practice, but in reality, I hustled work and through trial and error discovered I loved working with small to mid-size businesses but had no clue how to do it profitably.

One day I decided that to solve my frustration I would create a systematic approach to marketing. One that allowed me to walk into any business and suggest: here’s what I’m going to do, here’s what you’re going to do, here are the results we hope to achieve, and by the way, here’s what it costs.

This was the genesis of the system I call Duct Tape Marketing. After installing my marketing system in hundreds of businesses I distilled the essence of my work into the best-selling books Duct Tape Marketing and The Referral Engine

With the Ultimate Marketing Engine I have taken the past decade of working with and collaborating with thousands of businesses and present the latest evolution and innovation in the world of marketing.

Semi-interesting fun facts about John

I'm one of 10 children, yep, I have 7 brothers and two sisters. One thing I never thought was fair was that I only had 7 brothers and my sisters had 8.

I've played the guitar since I was in junior high. I learned for the same reason most teenage boys do but never practiced enough to claim to be any good at it.

I love to build furniture. Using my hands to craft a functional and maybe even beautiful piece is the most analog thing I do and it's good for the soul.
